What type of Devices do you repair?

We repair all major brands including iPhone, Samsung, Huawei, Sony, HTC, Nokia, LG, Google, OnePlus, Motorola, iPads, iPods & Samsung Tablet.

I tried repairing my smartphone myself, can I still bring it in for repair or diagnostic?

Yes, no problem, please contact us so we can come to you, or mail it to us.

I have multiple issues with my Device, can I get a deal on multiple repairs?

Yes you can, give us a call and describe your problem and we will see what we could do for you.  You could also consider trading in your device for an identical model if available or for a model which has similar specifications

Will all of the Functions on my device work after the repair?

We do a Pre Test Evaluation of all the functions on your device before we start working on it.  Should we find any functions not working as they should be, we will contact you before we proceed with the repair.  Once the repair is complete, we do a Post Test Evaluation to ensure that all the functions that are supposed to be working are still working and that the repair has been successful.

Do you charge a "Call Out Fee"

Yes we do.  All prices quoted on this website are exclusive of the “Call Out Fee”. Please have a look at our page If We Come To You for more details of our call out charges.  I am sure you can appreciate that it costs money to provide the convenience of us coming to your place of work or home to repair your device. We are still cheaper than the high street mobile phone shops

Do you have a No Fix No Fee policy?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

What does Beyond Economical Repair mean?

DrFixit provides mobile iPhone, iPad, Samsung Smart Phone and Samsung Tablet Repairs.  In most cases your device will be able to be repaired by replacing parts.  No micro-soldering and very little fault finding will be required. Should we be unable to repair your device, it will be considered to be “Beyond Economical Repair” for us. This is not to say it can not be repaired for a reasonable fee by a more specialised company.  Read – What are my options if my device is not fixable to understand what your options are.

What are my options if my device is not fixable? (Beyond Economical Repair)

If your device is considered to be Beyond Economical Repair, your device may still be able to be repaired by Specialised Technicians who do board level repairs.  These are highly trained people working with specialised tools such as 45X microscopes just to see the components.  Anyone who does not know what they are doing will destroy your device permanently.  We have carefully vetted this company and trust them 100%.  We would send your device to this company and all it will cost you to find out if your device can be repaired is the cost of the postage.  This does not exclude the cost of a Call Out Fee should it apply

Why are Battery Replacements only Guaranteed for 3 Months?

Most mobile phone repair businesses only provide a 1 month guarantee on battery replacements. The reason is that the repairer has no control or way of knowing how the battery is being charged, what charger is being used, if the phone is being left on charge over night, which damages batteries or how much much the phone is being used. At DrFixit we believe that a 1 month guarantee is just unreasonable, so we decided to provide 3 months guarantee on all our battery replacements. Further more, we do not stock batteries. From the day the battery is manufactured, it starts to deteriorate. We want the battery to be as new as possible when we install it in to your device, to give you the best battery life as possible, so we order in a battery for each job to ensure your battery replacement lasts as long as possible

Mail in Repair Questions

Can I mail in any device for repair?

We generally specialise in iPhones, iPads, iPods, Samsung Smart Phones and Samsung Tablets, but have and are able to fix most other brand / devices.  It is best to give us a call and our technicians will assist you.

What should I include when I am shipping my device to you?

We need several details from you, head over to Mail-in Your Device for more infomation. Do not include accessories or the original packaging as this will only increase shipping cost. Any other information we need will be provided from the mail-in form which is on the Mail-in Your Device page.

Do I have to include my passcode with my phone?

It is recommended. We need the passcode in order to test your phone before & after the repair. If you do not wish to provide your passcode, most phone functions won’t be tested.  If we can not verify which functions are working on your phone prior to the repair, we will be unable to take responsibility for any of those functions not working after the repair.

Do you need my SIM card?

No we do not need your SIM card, we stock almost all network sim cards specifically for testing devices.

Is there a "Call Out Fee" for Mail-in Repairs?

No.  We are not incurring any costs if you send your device to us via the post or a courier.  We will however charge you the cost of the postage, including full insurance to cover the cost of your device getting damaged or going missing during transit.  This charge is normally about £7.5 – £10.

Why is the cost of postage so much?

The cost of replacing your mobile device may very well run into excess of £1000.  For that reason it is prudent to insure your device.  From my experience, the Royal Mail are competitive and treat your parcel with the due care they should.  Other couriers seem to employ a team of young footballers to move the parcels around their warehouse.

Liquid Damage Service

What should I do if my device falls into water or another liquid?

Do not turn on your device. It’s best if you bring it the next day or even the same day, as we will have a better chance of repairing it. Of course if you can’t make it to us, just dry it with a towel.  Do not put it in rice or other “Drying Agents” as this will clog up the headphone and charging ports. We can collect the device from you, you can drop it off with us or you can mail us your device.

My device was water damaged and now everything seems to work fine except for one function, do I still need the full water damage service?

The easiest answer to that question is I will bet my bottom dollar it will not last long.  Get it to us, so we can open it and clean it out, there very well may be further damage just round the corner as the circuit boards start to corrode.

How long do water damage repairs take to complete?

Water damage repairs generally take between 24 and 72 hours to complete depending on the level of damage. This estimate can vary, however, depending on the extent of the damage to the logic board and other components.

Screen / Digitiser / LCD Replacement Service

After dropping my phone it has become unresponsive to touch, does a screen replacementr fix this issue?

Yes, any non responsiveness your phone is suffering due to a drop is usually corrected with a Screen replacement repair.  If you are experiencing this issue with an iPad or Tablet, the LCD may need to be changed.

How do I know if I need the LCD repair or not?

If the actual screen of the phone is bleeding, white, or has any dead pixels then you’re going to need to select the LCD & Glass option as the LCD has suffered irreversible damage. Still not sure? Send a picture of the current condition of the phone while it is powered by Clicking to Email and we will do our best to diagnose it.

The glass on my iPhone is completely shattered and is chipping off, is the glass replacement service all I need?

That depends if everything is still currently working on your device, but generally, Yes, the glass replacement service will replace the entire glass face, so the extent of the damage to the previous glass does not matter.

Do you use Original / Genuine Screens?

We are restricted by availability and functionality. Certain Brands such as Samsung and Huawei do not work well with Non-Genuine screens, fortunately they are available for us to buy, so we use Genuine Samsung & Huawei Screens on most models. Genuine Apple iPhone and iPad screens are not available. Apple have even gone to the lengths to manufacture their own micro chips, so no one else can repair these devices. Fortunately there is a large selection of very good quality iPhone & iPad screens available.

Will the Non-Original Screen be as Good?

Should we need to use a Non-Genuine Screen, that screen should function exactly the same way as the Genuine Screen. The only variation may be in colour and brightness. It stand to reason that a Non-Genuine Screen can never be exactly the same as the Original and to be fair some copies are even better than the Originals
