No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

Samsung S24 Ultra 5G Known Issues

Grainy, sandy texture on dark grey backgrounds

S24 Ultra owners on XDA report a grainy, sandpaper-like texture across dark grey areas of the screen, worst in dark mode at 50% brightness & below. Screenshots don’t capture it. It only shows to the eye or in a photo of the panel. In one owner’s opinion, after comparing three S24 Ultras, this model’s anti-reflective coating makes the grain easier to spot. Every explanation of the cause in the thread is an owner’s opinion: some call it a software bug, others a hardware defect, & one says Samsung told them it’s normal.

Faint lines on grey at low brightness

A second XDA thread documents faint lines on the S24 Ultra’s panel when a flat grey fills the screen in a dark room. How bad it is varies by unit. One owner saw two lines at 1% brightness that vanished by 6%. Another saw them on light grey up to 45-55% brightness, & on dark grey at every level up to 100%. The cause is owners’ opinion only: some put it down to the panel’s anti-reflective filter, others treat it as a warranty fault.

Thin green vertical line

Some S24 Ultra owners report a thin green line running top to bottom of the display, in one case paired with a thin white line across it. Those lines showed during YouTube playback & on the boot screen, so no single app was to blame. The poster who shared the report blames a manufacturing fault where the display loses contact with the flex cable joining it to the mainboard. Samsung’s support acknowledged that case as a manufacturing defect.

Missed scrolls & delayed touches

The S24 Ultra’s touchscreen sometimes misses scroll gestures. It reads a swipe as a tap or stops dead mid-scroll, & it shows up over repeated scrolls rather than one or two. A second variant: after swiping home, the screen ignores the next swipe for a second or two, on several different launchers. One owner clean-flashed three times across different firmware releases. Another ran touch-panel & Wacom digitiser firmware updates through the *#2663# service menu. Neither fixed it. Samsung’s engineers kept asking for more logs because the fault doesn’t show up in them. Plenty of owners on the same firmware report no problem at all.

Running hot during light use

Owners report the S24 Ultra running hot while browsing, watching YouTube & on video calls. One German forum thread about it passed roughly 300 posts. One owner logged a 30°C average battery temperature in a 22-25°C room, with 40°C peaks on charge. Another hit 45°C using the camera. A third put it at a steady 3°C above an S23 Ultra doing the same tasks. Affected owners say it began after a system update, not out of the box, & a factory reset helped some of them only for a while. Not every unit does it: a UK owner in the same thread reported no overheating.
