Laptop / Macbook Battery Replacement Bristol

If you are looking for an HP laptop battery replacement, Macbook battery replacement, Dell laptop battery replacement, Acer laptop battery replacement, Lenovo laptop battery replacement or an Asus laptop battery replacement, you have come to the right place. You laptop may need a new battery urgently than you may think.  Stories in the media of batteries catching fire are on the rise.  This is not just some tall tale.  Literally every area of our lives is now powered by lithium batteries, from Vapes to Wireless Headphones & these batteries need more care than most people realise.  Often people will leave their laptops charging when the battery is fully charged & whilst advanced circuitry stops the laptop from charging once the battery is full, the battery only has to lose a small amount of charge for the laptop to start charging again.  As the battery ages, this situation become more dangerous, mainly because all lithium batteries start to exhibit a specific behaviour when a battery is spent and needs to be replaced.  The battery will now go from dead to fully charged very quickly.  The laptop then stops charging, but the battery then loses most of the charge very quickly, even when the laptop is switched off.  This causes the laptop to start charging again and so this cycle starts all over again with shorter intervals between the battery being fully charged and needing to be charged again.  This causes the battery to swell inside the laptop.

Frequently asked Questions

How Long will my HP Laptop Battery Replacement / Macbook Battery Replacement take?

Hewlett Packard Laptop battery replacements & Macbook battery replacements usually take between 60 to 90 Minutes.  As time has gone by, Laptops and Macbooks have become thinner & thinner.  This has resulted in the batteries often being glued in to the device chassis.  Care is needed to remove the battery without damaging the Laptop or Apple Macbook.  The battery is often located over the touch pad area, so extra care is required to not damage the touch pad.  Here at DrFixit we started off repairing Phones an have done many iPhone battery replacements & Samsung Battery replacements, so we have plenty of experience with much smaller devices.

Why do you only use Genuine Spares if we can get them?

macbook battery replacementGenuine is always better, we all know that, but some times we can not get genuine spares.  This is particularly important when it comes to batteries.  Out of the 15 suppliers we buy from, we only buy batteries from 2 suppliers.  From years of experience, we know which suppliers supply good batteries and which ones do not, we also know which batteries are quality & which are not.  Some suppliers brand the batteries in their own brand, so it is not even possible to know where the battery comes from, but the main thing is knowing the battery will give like for like service compared to an original laptop battery replacement or Macbook battery replacement.  If you need a Hewlett Packard laptop battery replacement, Dell laptop battery replacement, Acer laptop battery replacement, Lenovo laptop battery replacement or an Asus laptop battery replacement, we can usually get genuine original batteries, depending on the model of course, but genuine Macbook battery replacements are more difficult to get.

What are the signs that I need a laptop battery replacement?

Battery naturally degrade over time, but if a laptop is left plugged in or used in high temperatures, the battery can degrade quicker.  It is not uncommon for laptops to be used on a person lap, often on top of a jumper of blanket.  This cuts off the air circulation to the fans that keep the laptop cool, causing it to run hot.

Here are some signs that you may need to replace your laptop battery:

  • The laptop battery does not last as long as it used to.
  • The battery appears fully charged, but dies quickly.
  • The laptop battery seems to take for ever to charge.
  • The laptop battery area gets hot.
  • The laptop area where the battery is swells or bulges.

If it appears that the laptop battery gets hot, swells or bulges, this may damage the laptop, but more importantly, this is a fire hazard, I would recommend not charging or using the laptop any further, placing it in a place where if the battery did catch fire, it would not cause damage and get it to us promptly, even if it is to disconnect the battery whilst we wait for a new battery to be delivered.

Can I do my own Laptop Battery Replacement

Sure you can, but beware there are some things you should be aware of.  Not all laptop battery replacements are the same of course.  Some battery replacements are easy, in days gone by, an HP laptop battery replacement, Macbook battery replacement, Dell laptop battery replacement, Acer laptop battery replacement, Lenovo laptop battery replacement or an Asus laptop battery replacement or Hewlett Packard was a piece of cake, take a few screws out, unclip the battery, easy peasy.  Now with the laptops being a lot slimmer & lighter, the tendency is to use less screws and more glue.  To complicate matters, the batteries often sit above the mouse pad.

Here are some suggestions should you decide to do the repair yourself.

  • Disconnect the battery from the laptop first.
  • Press the power button afterwards to drain any residual power from the laptop
  • Only use Isopropanol to degrade the battery glue
  • Only use plastic tools to pry the battery from the glue

Which laptops do you replace batteries for?

We do most laptop batteries, here is a list, but if you are not sure, just give us a call and ask:

  • HP laptop battery replacement
  • Macbook battery replacement
  • Dell laptop battery replacement
  • Acer laptop battery replacement
  • Lenovo laptop battery replacement
  • Asus laptop battery replacement

Laptop battery warranty & New charging protocol

The industry standard is 1 month guarantee, but we thought that was just unfair.  We offer 3 months warranty on all our laptop battery replacements.  The reason for this is that whilst we do our absolute upmost to source new quality batteries, we can only go on the reputation of the people we have worked with for years.  Secondly we can not know how the battery is being used.  We suggest that you pay particular attention to how the battery is performing over hat 3 month period & if you are in any doubt, bring the laptop back, so we can then return the battery to the supplier.

Once you have your laptop back, ensure you charge the battery to 100%.  Once at 100%, leave the laptop charging for an additional 2 hours, then set the power options to keep the screen on, just search google for how to do this for your model.  Now allow the laptop battery to run 100% flat.  Once flat, plug it in again, restore the power profile so the screen switches off when you would like and charge the battery to 100% again.  This will stretch the capacity of the battery.
