If We Come To You
We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.
No Fix No Fee?
We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.
12 Month Warranty
We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.
Huawei Honor 10 Known Issues
Random reboots that a new battery won’t fix
An Honor 10 that’s behaved itself for a year and a half starts restarting on its own, and then it won’t stop. One owner watched it begin in August and carry on for months. Another’s started at around the eighteen-month mark and followed the phone when he handed it down to his wife. So the battery gets swapped, because that’s the obvious suspect — except in that same thread a brand new battery changed nothing, a second brand new battery changed nothing either, and the power button was cleared with an ohm meter. Plug one of these in and it can restart the instant the cable goes in.
Safe mode and factory resets won’t stop it either
The usual software checklist doesn’t get you very far on this one. One owner ran two factory resets and it kept rebooting on the setup screens, before a single app had been installed. It reboots in safe mode. Some drop into a bootloop instead of a clean restart. The one thing that did quieten a phone down was a Huawei service centre rolling it back to a much older Android version and fitting a genuine battery — and even that owner reckoned they’d found a workaround rather than an actual fix.
The trail ends at the mainboard, and that’s a different repair
Once the battery, the power button and the software are all ruled out, what’s left is the board. That matters because it changes the job completely — a battery swap is routine, a board-level fault on a phone this age often isn’t worth what it costs to chase. And a board isn’t a guaranteed cure: one owner on the same thread was still getting reboots after a motherboard change. Huawei did replace mainboards free for out-of-warranty owners in mainland China as a goodwill gesture, but that never extended outside it, so it isn’t something to expect here.
Chasing an update it was never offered leaves it stuck in eRecovery
Honor 10 firmware is tied to region, and owners who saw a newer EMUI release that never appeared in their own update list have tried switching region to force it through. One did exactly that and ended up stuck on the eRecovery screen with software the phone wouldn’t accept. Getting it back meant reinstalling the correct regional firmware via Huawei’s dload method — a USB stick, an OTG cable, and the exact right build for that model. That one ended up at a service centre.
