If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

iPad Pro 11 2021 3rd Generation Known Issues

Cracked glass on a fused screen assembly

The glass, digitiser and LCD on this iPad are bonded into a single part, so there’s no such thing as a glass-only repair here. A corner drop usually spiders the front while the panel underneath carries on working perfectly, which is exactly why people leave it. But a shattered front stops keeping dust out, and the shards will find your fingers eventually. So the fix is a full assembly swap — a slow heat-and-patience job, not a ten-minute one.

Dead backlight after a previous screen repair

This one is almost always self-inflicted. If the battery isn’t disconnected before the display comes off, it’s very easy to short the backlight circuit on the board. The iPad still powers on, the image is still being drawn, and you can see it faintly if you shine a torch at the screen — but the panel looks black. It’s one of the most common faults we see on tablets that have been opened once already, and putting it right means board-level work rather than another screen.

Face ID stops working after a screen replacement

Face ID sits in a flex assembly that has to be carried across from the original screen to the new one. A replacement panel doesn’t arrive with a working one in it. But that flex sits directly in the path of the tools used to lift the display, so one slip or one impatient tug is all it takes. The symptom is a perfect new screen with Face ID greyed out in settings afterwards. There’s no aftermarket part that solves it, so this is a prevention job.

No power after a refurbishment or an earlier repair

Not every dead iPad Pro has a dead board. One 3rd gen came in showing no signs of life at all, and the cause turned out to be an internal short left behind by an assembly error at the refurbishing centre — a fault that was inside the device before the owner ever touched it. So if a refurbished unit dies shortly after arriving, it’s worth having the short traced properly before anyone writes the whole thing off as scrap.

Touch that ignores part of the screen

Touch and display are the same part on this iPad, so when an area stops registering there’s no digitiser to swap on its own. Sometimes it isn’t hardware at all — a force restart clears it, and that’s always worth trying first. But if it returns after a drop, or a strip down one edge is permanently dead, that’s the assembly itself and the whole panel has to come out.
