No Fix No Fee?
We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

OnePlus 7 Known Issues
Stuck on the OnePlus logo, or restarting over and over
A OnePlus 7 that loops the logo and never reaches the lock screen has normally failed part-way through a system update rather than broken a part. The phone keeps two full copies of the system, slot A and slot B; an update writes into the inactive one and switches over on the next boot, so a bad write leaves the phone starting into something half-finished.
Force it off with a ten-second press of the power button and try one cold start before anything else. After that it’s recovery, a cache wipe, then a clean reflash of stock OxygenOS. A phone that loops again minutes after a good reflash has a hardware fault, and that’s the point where storage and power get tested instead of software.
Dead at the fastboot screen after a root or custom ROM attempt
This is the OnePlus 7 job that most often arrives already broken by its owner. The XDA help thread for the device runs on unlocked bootloaders, TWRP, Magisk-patched boot images and third-party ROMs, and the common ending is a wiped system and vendor partition with no working package flashed back over the top. Nothing boots because there is nothing left to boot.
Recovery means Qualcomm’s emergency download mode driven by the MSM Download Tool from a Windows machine, which writes factory firmware back at a level fastboot can’t reach. Two cautions come with it. It erases the phone, and the package has to match the variant: a HydrogenOS package flashed onto a global GM1901 turns it into a Chinese-market phone and creates a second problem.
Every system update fails and the phone rolls back
A phone that runs fine day to day but refuses every update has one damaged slot. Owners describe the update installing into slot A, failing, and handing control back to the working slot B each time; the usual cause is leftover custom recovery or a patched boot image sitting in the slot the update is trying to overwrite, so verification aborts before it finishes.
The fix is rebuilding the bad slot from stock firmware rather than retrying the update, and the first thing a repair shop checks is which slot is currently active. Flashing to both slots at once is the popular forum shortcut, and it is the reason one mistake takes out both copies of the system.
Photos and messages trapped on a phone the only fix wipes
On this device the repair is straightforward and the data is the hard part. The MSM restore that reliably revives a bricked OnePlus 7 rewrites every partition, and the user data area is encrypted, so a custom recovery frequently can’t read the files off before that happens.
Anything worth keeping gets pulled first, over ADB or through recovery, before a single partition is written. If the owner can still reach the home screen, that copy happens immediately. A phone that only reaches fastboot has far fewer options, and no honest shop quotes for recovery before it has had the phone on a cable.
Liquid damage that gets worse after the phone dries out
Rice doesn’t dry a phone out. One of Rossmann’s bench streams picks a phone deliberately as another rice case, to show what actually happens: the handset takes a soaking, sits in rice, comes back on, and then fails later once corrosion has worked through traces and component legs under the shields. By the time it reaches a counter it is a cleaning and board-repair job, not a drying job.
Speed decides the outcome. A phone brought in unpowered, stripped, cleaned and inspected under a microscope has a real chance. One that spent a fortnight switched on in a drawer often comes back as a data recovery attempt instead, and sometimes not even that.
