No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

Samsung A54 Known Issues

It can die mid-call and never come back

One A54 owner’s XDA thread starts with a phone call and ends with a brick. The speaker glitched, the phone switched off, and from then on plugging it in got the charging lightning bolt on screen and nothing else. No vibration, no boot, and an overnight charge changed nothing. No drop, no spill, rugged case the whole time. Samsung’s own service route quoted the lot — mainboard, screen, backplate — for close to what a replacement phone costs, which tells you nobody was going component hunting.

Slow charging cooks it. Fast charging doesn’t.

Here’s the weird one. After that same A54 came back to life, it charged fine on the official 25W charger and failed on everything slower — a laptop USB port, a photo-print kiosk, all of it heating up and losing power instead of gaining it. Backwards from what you’d expect. The thread’s replies landed on the battery or the power-management IC, and a charge controller that’s died only on the low-current side is a board-level job, not a battery swap.

Knock it and the charging screen flickers on

Same phone, weeks later: dead again, except tapping it made the charging screen appear for a moment before going nowhere. That’s a connection opening and closing — the charge port flex, or a solder joint on the board that’s had enough. The flashlight had stopped working by then too, so whatever shorted didn’t restrict itself to the charging circuit. If yours does the knock trick, say so when you book it in. It narrows the diagnosis enormously.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G has a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display at 1080 x 2340 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, running on Samsung’s own Exynos 1380 chipset with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.

The rear camera is a triple setup — a 50MP main sensor (f/1.8, OIS), a 12MP ultrawide lens (f/2.2), and a 5MP macro camera (f/2.4). The front camera is 32MP.
