I’m going to review the Samsung S22 Ultra, from the exterior design to the process of going through all of its cameras to find out if it’s still worth it 20 months later in 2023. As always, we’re going to start by talking a little bit about the exterior design, which as you can see is quite similar to the latest model to the S23 Ultra, besides a very small shape difference on the side edges to make it more ergonomic.
I’ve already said this many times, but I’ll say it again. This is the most beautiful design that Samsung has ever created for one of their phones. It is very, very, good looking. The only bad thing that I can say about it is that it’s not the most ergonomic. As I said, it is 6.8 inches and has very pointy squared edges. So unless you’re Shaquille O’Neal, you’re 100% going to have to use it with two hands. In terms of the internal components, it obviously has the best of the best. More specifically the Snapdragon 8th generation processor optimised for the S22 Ultra. Pay close attention, this is not the normal 8 Gen one. Like the rest of normal phones, it has a version of this processor customised specifically to take the most advantage out of the phone. So of course it is as fast as it gets in the Android game. So it’s kind of a phone for the long run, you’re supposed to buy it and use it for like 4 or five years. That’s kind of the purpose of having so much power that you can have it for so long without losing that premium fast phone feeling experience.

Let’s move on to talk about the battery which I’m not very excited about. The battery is not the best I’ve ever seen and there’s a couple things that you should know about it, But before we talk about the battery, there’s something more important and it’s that right now this phone has an amazingly low price on Amazon. I’ve never seen it so low ever. Back to the battery, which as I said is not the most impressive part of this phone. For comparison it has worse battery life than the Samsung S23, the Samsung S23 plus or the Samsung S23 Ultra, which makes it not seem so great. You may be interested in reading my blog Samsung S23 vs S23 Plus I have to say in the S 22 Ultra defence that all of these other phones have insanely good battery life, So even though the S 22 Ultra is a little bit behind, it doesn’t mean it has better battery life. It just means it is not as insanely good as those other phones. Still, if we compare it to an iPhone or two other phones, it’s very good. The Samsung S22 Ultra Display
Let’s move on to talk about the display, which is insanely good. Beyond good on this phone because the display on this phone has everything and everything is 120 Hertz with an LPO panel that varies that refresh rate from 1:20 to 1 Hertz, 17150 nits of brightness and extremely thin frames on top of of course, the highest end panel available. When I say the highest end panel available, it’s not just me hyping it up, it is literally the best panel you can put on any phones. Well, you can’t really do it because Samsung makes those panels and they’re not going to sell them to Apple or any other company. They want their phones to have the best of the best, so right now the best display on any phone is the S22 Ultra or the S23 Ultra, which share that panel. For those who have had this one in their hands, you know what I’m talking about, it looks insanely good. The bad news is both of these phones have curved screens, which means that they get damaged more easily than you would think, so if you need a Genuine Samsung S22 Ultra screen repair, no problem.

And finally, it is time to talk about the most important component or components on these phone.. the cameras. Because this phone has a lot of cameras. It has 108 megapixel main lens. It has 210 megapixel zoom lenses, a 3X and A10X and of course, It has the beloved classic, 12 megapixel ultra wide. All of these cameras are very good. They all are in some way or another an upgrade over the old generation 20 one ultra but I would say the most important upgrade we’ve seen is on the main camera. It is a huge sensor, a lot of megapixels as you saw, so it captures a lot of light and a lot of detail. It’s very sharp. However, I know most of you care about the photos, not the video, so I’m going to show you a bunch of photos from all the four cameras zooming in so you can see the small details, and then I’ll come back to talk about the 5th camera which is the selfie camera, so those were all of the main cameras on this phone. As you saw the better looking photos came from the main sensor As I said, I think the ultra wide is a Close very close second.
Then we have the zoom cameras which are not as good looking as the other two, but are very versatile because they have two focal lengths. We have a 3X and A10X which is very handy for people who like to take photos, and last but not least of course, we have the selfie camera, which is the worst out of all of them. Of course it is a very tiny sensor. Very tiny optics, so it’s impossible to make it look as cinematic to give it as much a dynamic range as the other cameras because of physics.
You know, you can’t make a gamer look big when it’s tiny, but even then it looks very good. I wouldn’t say it’s a massive upgrade over the S20. 2 Ultra or sorry S 21 Ultra, but I would say it is very good. It is on the high end of selfie cameras right now. So you’re not going to be disappointed. I guess it’s going to definitely be way better than the one you have right now, unless you have the S 21 Ultra. So adding up all of these points, the very good processor, the decent battery life, the very good display, and the very good camera system, for the same price as an iPhone 12, I think it is insanely worth it to get an S22 Ultra. Unless of course, you have a lot of money and you want to get the best of the best, which in that case I recommend you go for the S 23 Ultra
So if you’re looking for an Android phone, that’s very good, but you don’t want to break the bank and go beyond 1000 bucks. This is it, this is the S22 Ultra.
