We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

iPhone 16 Pro Known Issues

Totally dead and will not charge

A board-level repairer had an iPhone 16 Pro come in totally dead. It would not power on, it would not charge, and a USB meter plugged into the port did not even light up. There was no liquid damage and no sign of a previous repair. A port tester showed a short on pins that read open on a known-good donor board, and he traced it to a shorted charging chip pulling the main power rail to ground. He suspects this may become a common 16 Pro failure. So far, it is one documented case.

**Repair note:** he replaced the charging chip at board level, and the owner’s data survived.

No service or odd faults from the stacked logic board

The 16 Pro’s logic board is two boards stacked and soldered together through a middle layer called an interposer. The same repairer calls separation between those layers a very common cause of no service and other odd faults on stacked boards like this. A separation can also stop the phone charging, because the charging port connects to one layer while the charging circuit sits on the other.

**Repair note:** the layers can be split apart and reballed, though in his test they took extra heat to release. The cellular modem chip is paired to the processor and cannot be swapped for another.
