Hey, guys, today in my iPhone SE 2nd Generation Comparison, we are going to be comparing the iPhone SE second generation with the third generation, and delivering a head-to-head comparison. The reason we’re doing this comparison is because there are so many similarities between these two devices that it’s well worth knowing if it’s worth upgrading or if you’re thinking of buying one versus another.
iPhone SE 2nd Generation Comparison – First Impressions
So let’s get started, with the iPhone SE second generation comparison, which I have right here was released back in April of 2020 and then two years later in March of 2022, the third generation came out. If you recall there was a first generation which was back released in 2016, almost four years later since the second generation. Now between these devices there’s a lot of similarities and a few differences, the first thing is the actual size and the body of it, the body looks very similar. They also come in the three same colour shapes. So if you have the product red, the only difference I see here is that the second generation is a lighter red versus darker red on the 3rd generation. They also come in white and black also. The other thing to note is the actual weight of these devices. If you look at the really deep down specs of it, the iPhone as the second generation weighs about 148 grams and then the iPhone SA third generation ground 144 grams, so 24 gram less. The difference is so negligible that you probably won’t notice a difference.
iPhone SE 2nd Generation Comparison – Its Just an 8
The body build, again is very similar to the iPhone 8, the speakers on the bottom, the rounded edges and that single 12 megapixel camera, the ALE logo. If I were to give you these two devices and and ask you to point out which is which, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell from just looking at the actual screen and the body itself. Another thing to note is that both of them have a 4.7 inch retina display here, very similar resolution 1334 by 750 pixel. They have True Tone, Haptic Touch and that 625 knit or brightness on both devices. In terms of brightness again the same kind of display, so I’m guessing that they are using pretty much the same display under the cover as well. The other thing to mention on this device is where the distinguishing factor starts to come in, the first one that we see is the chip, the iPhone second generation has a 13 bionic chip with three gigs of RAM and the storage that you can get it is 128 gig and 64 gig and of course you can also get it in 256 gig. The other thing to mention about these two phones is that both of the iPhone series here are very powerful devices in terms of how much they deliver.
iPhone SE 2nd Generation Comparison – Battery
The other thing to note is the battery. The battery life is slightly different. The iPhone SE second generation has a battery size that’s 1821, very similar to the iPhone 8 and gives you 13 hours of video playback. The iPhone SE third generation has a slightly bigger battery around 2018, so 2018 MH gives you about 15 hours of video playback. So only two hours difference in real life scenario depending on how much of a user you are on both of the phones. If you are a medium user should get through most of the day. For more on the medium to heavy user, you’ll most likely need to charge at least once to get through the day. All the mobile manufacturers changed their batteries so that can be charged quickly. This has resulted in the battery not lasting as long as the iPhone 8 for example. We offer iPhone 2nd generation 2020 battery replacements as well as iPhone SE 3rd generation battery replacement. Job takes about an hour.
Cameras – iPhone SE 2nd Generation Comparison
Now let’s really look at the other thing on this phone that really matters, which is going to be your camera spec. So let’s look at the camera here, both phones have a really decent 12 megapixel camera. But within that camera technology slightly has changed here, they do take some really good HD photos, but when it comes to things like night mode, that’s where the iPhone SE third generation comes into play and diffusion as well. So you’re going to get a bit better quality, again fairly negligible when it comes to recording, but it’s something worth taking note of. You also have photographic style available on the iPhone SE 3rd generation, it’s not available on the iPhone 2nd generation. Of course both of the phones have portrait mode, so you’re not limited in terms of the portrait mode between these device. So again both cameras, again really good decent size, and the other thing to mention is the connectivity. So the iPhone second generation here only SO does not support 5G. The third generation is the only one out of the SE that started to support the 5G connectivity on this device. Lastly let’s discuss the software update that both of these devices get. The iPhone SE here is updated to iOS16 and of course the acid sector generation also comes with iOS 16. Now if you think about the software update, most likely the iPhone second generation will probably get another two to three years of update, whereas the C third generation more around three to four years of major Apple update. Generally Apple keep their phones up to date with the major update for five years or so, which is probably a big selling point for these iPhones. Again, if you’re considering picking between these two devices, and you’re really looking at all the things spec wise in terms of it, there is again those minor updates that we mentioned.
Finally Thoughts – iPhone SE 2nd Generation Comparison
The other thing to look at is the price point. So the iPhone 6 was slightly more expensive when it came out than the iPhone SE second generation which was started at £299 or £and 399 but the iPhone third generation starts at £429 almost £30 more. Not sure why Apple did that but that’s kind of what Apple does. If you want to get the third generation because you want to get the latest and the most up-to-date Phone, you can probably get it from Apples website directly. They are selling it the third generation, but they’re not selling the second generation. Again, both devices are great for basic simple stuff like calling, texting, even browsing. Most of the apps will work without any issues, so you don’t need to worry that these will bill out on you because they do have massive power, don’t let the small size fool you. So that’s my review, I hope this was helpful in determining your decision and at least giving you an understanding of the differences between the iPhone first generation and the second generation.
