If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Note 20 Known Issues

Charges on Super Fast Charging, drains on everything else (Note 20 5G)

So this one’s odd, and it’s worth reading slowly. Owners of the 5G Note 20 describe the phone suddenly refusing to charge from an ordinary charger or a standard fast charger. One of them has the SM-N981B, which is the UK/European 5G model. The phone says it’s charging, but the percentage goes down anyway. Plug in a charger that supports Samsung’s Super Fast Charging and it fills up, though sometimes it stops at 95%. Unplug that cable and plug it straight back in, and it can show no charge at all until it’s been on a different charger first. Wireless charging kept working, at least to begin with. One owner then found wireless going intermittent too. A second owner, also on a Note 20 5G, tells the same story: dead over USB-C, fine on a wireless pad. That was after cleaning the port, trying different cables and doing a factory reset. Nobody in these threads got a confirmed cause. The owner who sent theirs to a Samsung service centre decided it was hardware, because a reset changed nothing, and that fits. So the first thing we’d want to know is whether it’s the port or the board. A port that’s worn or oxidised inside and a fault in the charging circuitry can both look like this, and they’re very different jobs. We check the port properly before anyone talks about the board.

Samsung Note 20 Specifications

The Samsung Note 20 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen (1080 x 2400) under Gorilla Glass 5, with a plastic back rather than glass. UK and European phones run Samsung’s Exynos 990, while the US version used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+. It was sold as a 4G model (SM-N980F) with 256GB of storage and a 5G model (SM-N981B) with 128GB or 256GB, both with 8GB of RAM and no microSD slot.

The rear cameras are a 12MP main and a 64MP telephoto, both with optical stabilisation, plus a 12MP ultra-wide, and the selfie camera is 10MP. The battery is 4300mAh, with 25W wired, 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. It’s rated IP68, the S Pen stylus connects over Bluetooth, and the fingerprint reader is an ultrasonic one under the screen.
