Sounds enticing, saving you heaps of money and inconvenience, not being without your phone at all, however the reality is far different & this is why…
- You have no way of knowing if you are buying a AAA rated replacement screen or a cheap Chinese import
- You do not have the tools to do your screen replacement, so you will have to buy them
- If you do not use the correct tools, you run the risk of causing further damage, for example, disconnecting the battery and / or screen flex cables must be done with a plastic splugger. If you use a metal splugger, you run the risk of causing a short and causing untold damage to the main circuit board
- Did you know that if you work on the phone without disconnecting the battery, you will blow a filter & your new screen will not work
- You may not know that there are capacitors close to the battery and screen connectors. They are tiny & are easily knocked off the circuit board, you need a microscope to see them. They may not stop your device from working, but may interrupt the smoothness of the voltage causing all sorts of strange behaviour
- It is impossible for you to replace the filter or capacitor with out £1000 of tools, skills and specialised solder
- You will need to move the buttons & camera from the old screen on to the new screen. If it is an iPhone 7 or newer, if you damage the home button, well that is the end of your phone, each home button on these models is programmed to that specific phone. Head to Apple for a new home button cost £300.
- The cost of an iTech replacing the screen is probably cheaper than your doing it as we get discounted rates and already have the tools handy
