No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

Samsung A50 Known Issues

Random freezes that turn into a boot-loop stuck on the Samsung logo

A genuine pattern on the A50: it freezes mid-use — often mid-game, sometimes right after a system update — and a forced restart doesn’t bring it back. Instead it hangs on the Samsung logo, or sits stuck on the charging animation, no matter how many times you reboot it. Enough owners hit this independently that it’s clearly not one dodgy unit. Nine times out of ten it’s storage corruption, not a dead motherboard — usually fixable with a full firmware reflash through Odin. Assuming the bootloader actually cooperates. It doesn’t always.

Stuck on “Phone is starting” after fingerprint unlock

Here’s a weird one. The phone boots clean, gets past the logo, you unlock with your fingerprint — and then it just sits there on “Phone is starting” forever. One XDA thread traced it straight to Power Saving mode: switch it off, and the phone boots through like nothing happened. Doesn’t work for everyone, though, which means more than one culprit is hiding behind the same message — sometimes it’s that setting, sometimes a rogue third-party launcher. Worth ruling out before you assume the storage has died.

Mobile data crawling or dropping out in weak signal areas

One owner tested this properly — same low-signal spot, A50 next to another phone. The A50’s mobile data crawled to nothing or dropped out completely while the other handset carried on fine. That’s not “signal gets worse in weak spots,” that’s one phone underperforming its neighbour on identical bars, which points at the antenna or modem rather than the network itself. If your A50 specifically struggles where other phones don’t, that’s a signal-path fault worth checking properly, not something a new SIM fixes.

Random shutdowns and reboots with no warning

The A50 shutting itself off with zero warning — mid-call, mid-scroll, doesn’t matter — comes up often enough in troubleshooting write-ups aimed specifically at this phone to be worth flagging, even though nobody’s nailed one single cause. Could be a firmware bug, could be a battery that’s aged past holding a stable charge, could be a loose internal connection working itself free. The useful diagnostic step is watching when it happens — on charge, in Safe Mode, after a reset — because each answer points somewhere completely different.

Power button gone completely unresponsive

A step past a simple freeze: some A50 units go fully dark and stop responding to the power button altogether — no combination of volume and power gets so much as a boot screen. Getting a PC to even recognise the phone in Download Mode was its own battle in the thread I read, locked bootloader included. That’s the signature of a failed power button assembly, a battery drained past its own safety cut-off, or a flaky charging port — not something worth guessing at without opening the thing up.
