No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

iPhone 6s Known Issues

No backlight after a screen replacement

On the 6s, a dark screen that appears straight after a screen swap is often a backlight fault on the board, not a faulty new screen. Jessa Jones of iPad Rehab says that is how a 6s backlight job usually arrives. Northridge Fix showed one such case: a 6s that had had its screen and battery replaced, then lost its backlight. Under the microscope, the backlight filter next to the display connector had shifted out of place and looked blown.

Repair note: Northridge Fix fitted a new filter, checked continuity from the filter to the connector pin, and the backlight came back.

Won’t charge: the Tristar chip

One 6s at SoCal Digital Repair drew just 0.004A on a USB meter when plugged in. A charged battery would power it on, but it still wouldn’t charge, and a new charging port and battery had already been tried. Jesse says that reading is typical of a failed Tristar, the charging controller on the logic board.

Repair note: he trimmed back part of a metal shield to reach the chip, replaced it, and the phone then pulled 0.778A from USB. Charging. He describes it as an advanced microsoldering job, though not the hardest one.
