No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

The display goes haywire the moment you plug the charger in

Here we have a Moto G85 that came in for repair. About a year old, faultless up to that point, and then this: plug the lead in and the screen starts scrolling on its own, tapping things nobody touched. Unplug it and it behaves. We do not treat that as a software fault. It is the classic USB-C charge-board failure — a worn or dirty port stops delivering clean, stable power, and the digitiser reads the resulting electrical noise as fingers on the glass. The port lives on its own sub-board, so this is a part swap, not heroic surgery, and it sits at the cheaper end of our board-level work. Owners on the forum were told warranty was the only answer. For a bench with the part in stock, it is not.

The Motorola Moto G85 5G has a 6.7″ FHD+ pOLED display at 1080 x 2400 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits peak brightness, running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset with 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage.

The rear camera is a dual setup — a 50MP main sensor (Sony LYTIA 600, OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide lens (118° field of view). The front camera is 32MP.

Battery capacity is 5000mAh, with 30W TurboPower charging.
