If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung A41 Known Issues

IMEI Lost After Updating a Modified A41

So, this one’s specific to A41 handsets that have been rooted or had the bootloader unlocked — and it’s serious enough to flag before anyone attempts a DIY firmware update. After installing an official update, the IMEI can come back as null. No calls, no texts, no mobile data at all; the modem simply stops recognising a SIM. This wasn’t a one-off report either — several separate forum posters hit the exact same fault independently after updating a modified A41, and the common thread each time was that Knox had already been tripped (bootloader unlocked, warranty voided) before the update landed. The workaround people found was flashing back to an earlier firmware build through Odin, or restoring from a full backup taken before the update — though a few reported Odin refusing to flash anything except the newest release, leaving them stuck. This is a firmware-level fault, not a hardware failure, but recovering the IMEI properly needs the right tools and a known-good firmware image, not just a factory reset.

Over-Compressed, Flat-Looking Photos

But the more common complaint, and one that doesn’t need any modification to trigger it, is about the camera software itself. Owners comparing shots side-by-side found the A41 applies noticeably aggressive JPEG compression, smearing away fine detail even in good lighting — enough that more than one person called it the phone’s one real letdown against an otherwise solid budget package. It’s compounded by HDR being switched off in some shooting modes, which flattens contrast in scenes that would otherwise hold their highlights and shadows properly. None of this is a fault you can repair with a screwdriver — it’s baked into how Samsung’s camera app processes images on this tier of device — but it’s worth knowing before assuming a soft or flat-looking photo means a damaged camera module or lens. If the photos have always looked this way, it’s the processing, not the hardware.
