No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

Too Busy to Come to Us?

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung S21 Ultra 5G Known Issues

Main camera that won’t focus evenly

So, this one surprised me. An XDA owner bought a used S21 Ultra and found the left quarter of every 1x photo was blurry. They returned it. The second one, from a different seller, did the same, just less badly, and struggled to focus on anything but the subject tapped. That’s not depth of field. Another owner says some people tap the side of the phone to get focus back, which points at the focus mechanism, and that means a camera replacement. Variant not stated.

Shutting down at idle, then hanging on the logo

This one’s from a UK-type Exynos model (SM-G998B/DS). The phone sits idle, switches itself off with over 40% battery left, then hangs on the Samsung logo. A factory reset didn’t cure it. Here’s what I’m curious about: ten minutes in a freezer and it booted normally. Cold making a difference makes me suspect a board-level connection, not software. That’s a hypothesis, not a diagnosis. Nobody in the thread confirmed a fix. And please don’t copy the freezer trick.

No signal: the charging-port board, and the model number

So, the small board with the USB-C port also carries antenna connections. One owner with no network on any SIM fixed it by swapping that board. Two catches. Their phone was a US model (SM-G998U1) needing the matching U board, and a UK-type owner (SM-G998B/DS) tried the same swap with no luck. So it’s a cause, not the cause. Model numbers matter the other way too: in one teardown of a US unit, an antenna part marked G998B meant no service until the original G998U part went back in. Looks identical. Isn’t.

Overheating on long video recordings

One XDA owner got an overheating warning after about 13 minutes of video with the torch on, then a half-hour camera lockout. Their monitoring app read 52°C on the processor and 50°C on the battery. Others topped out between 10 and 16 minutes. The poster never says which variant, and the thread’s Exynos-versus-Snapdragon argument never settles, so I can’t tell you it’s worse on UK phones. Owners blame how hard the camera works the chip.
