If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung S6 Edge Plus Known Issues

Wireless charging pauses on Samsung’s older pad

Put an Edge Plus on Samsung’s first-generation round wireless pad and it’ll often start charging, then give up within minutes. The pad’s blue light starts blinking and the phone shows “Wireless Charging Paused”. Other owners found it stopped at around half charge until they lifted the phone off and put it back. One went to bed with it on the pad and woke up to a dead phone, which isn’t ideal if that’s your alarm clock. So, the problem follows the pad, not the phone. One owner was told by Samsung support that the Edge Plus wasn’t backwards compatible with that older pad, and others had no trouble on third-party Qi pads or a stand-style charger. If it charges normally on a cable, the charging hardware usually isn’t at fault.

Home button press doesn’t always wake the screen

This one’s software, not the button. One owner filmed their Edge Plus giving an audible click on every home-button press while the screen stayed black. Sometimes it took two or three presses to wake it. The same owner also reported random freezes across more than one version of Samsung’s own software. The click registers, so a new button won’t cure it. But it’s worth ruling out before anyone opens the phone, because on this model very little comes apart easily.

Repair note: the charging port is trapped by the curved screen

This is what turns a worn charging port on the Edge Plus into a much bigger job than it should be. The wires for the back and menu keys run off the port’s flex, and they’re pinched between the screen glass and the plastic frame. On a flat phone you’d work around that. With the Edge Plus’s curved display, getting the screen off the frame without cracking it is close to impossible. So a port fault puts the screen at real risk, and that needs discussing before any work starts.

Repair note: glued glass and a soldered SIM slot

The back of the Edge Plus is glass, held on with adhesive that needs heat to soften. Pry it with anything thick and it cracks. The battery is glued to the frame as well, and careless prying can puncture the cell or bend the screen behind it. The good news is that the cameras and earpiece are separate parts that unclip. The bad news is that the SIM card slot is soldered to the main board, so a damaged one isn’t a quick swap. It’s board-level work.
