We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Google Pixel 6a Known Issues

Frozen screen, or stuck on the Google logo at boot

So, this one comes up constantly: the screen stops responding entirely, or the phone sits on the Google logo and never gets any further. A forced restart clears it most of the time, which is why there are whole videos dedicated to the button combination. But if it keeps happening, I’d stop treating it as a software hiccup. A repeating boot hang usually points at storage, the battery, or an update that didn’t finish cleanly — worth a proper diagnostic before anyone orders a screen.

Green tint across the display

Owners have found their 6a looks noticeably greener than other phones on a plain white screen, and some saw a cluster of green pixels sitting around the camera punch-hole straight out of the box. In a few cases those settled down once setup finished. In others they didn’t, and the verdict on the forums was blunt — that isn’t normal, send it back. It’s a panel fault rather than a colour setting, so the fix is a display replacement.

Magenta cast and striping in the camera viewfinder

Separate from the screen tint, some units show a heavy magenta cast and visible striping through the camera viewfinder itself. One owner put it plainly: you should never see that much magenta or that kind of striping through a camera, and it’s hardware. So it isn’t a camera app problem, and no amount of clearing caches or reinstalling will shift it. The repair is a camera module replacement, which is a more involved job on this model than a straightforward screen swap.

GPS drops the moment navigation starts

Here’s an odd one. The phone knows exactly where it is in Google Maps, then the second you start navigating it sits on “checking GPS status” and loses the fix. Owners worked through the obvious settings — Adaptive Battery switched off, location permission granted all the time — and it made no difference at all. That thread ended in a hardware diagnosis and a warranty repair. So if the settings check out and it still drops, suspect the receiver, not the user.

Software bugs that outlasted the launch window

Three months in, long-term reviewers were still calling the 6a buggy, and there are whole videos listing the problems worth knowing before buying one. That matters on the bench. A 6a misbehaving after a system update isn’t automatically a broken part, and I’ve seen people replace hardware that was never faulty in the first place. So fully update it and test it clean first — it’s the cheapest diagnostic step there is.

Battery capacity cut by Google’s mandatory safety update

Here’s one that isn’t a fault. Some 6a batteries carry an overheating risk, so from July 2025 Google pushed a mandatory update — part of Android 16 — that reduces battery capacity and charging speed on units it flags as impacted, once they pass 400 charge cycles. Google hasn’t said what makes a phone impacted. So a customer sees fast drain and slow charging after a year, and nothing is broken — it’s doing as it’s told. A fresh battery brings both back, since the throttle is tied to the original cell’s cycle count.
