We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Google Pixel Fold Known Issues

Inner screen cracking along the crease

Here we have Google’s first foldable, and the fault we take most seriously is a crack down the inner screen’s fold line. One owner saw a crack of about 2.5cm start at the bottom of the crease roughly 14 weeks in. Within two days it had run to the top, with a line of wrong colours along it. There was no drop and no case. So what changed? Part of the answer is the hinge. Out of the box it rests at about 178 or 179 degrees, not a true 180, and owners say they have to push it to get it flat. That same owner sometimes forced it to a full 180 to hide the crease. We do not recommend that. Every forced flattening loads the exact line that already bends on every fold.

A soft inner surface and easily marked metal

Google describes the inner screen as ultra-thin glass, and it is, underneath. The surface you touch is a plastic layer. In one scratch test it marked at level 2, with deeper grooves at level 3. A fingernail will leave a line. One owner had a scratch on that inner layer within two months, plus marks on the uncoated frame. The mirror-polished steel hinge spine and the metal camera bar scratch just as easily. A scratch in that top layer is cosmetic. A line of wrong colours under it is not. That is the crack above.

Cover screen goes black while the inner screen works

Several owners report the same thing. The outer screen stops responding on and off, sometimes for months, then goes black for good. The inner screen works, touch works, and there is no visible damage. One owner’s cover screen never came back after the battery ran flat. Some owners brought it back by changing a hidden display setting, which points at software rather than a dead panel. Is it the screen? A cable? Software? Nobody has confirmed it. Find out before paying for a cover screen you may not need.

Heat at the hinge

One owner had a spot near the bottom of the hinge get hot enough to blister their thumb. The phone smelt burnt and shut off, then worked normally the next morning. They suspected a cable shorting. That is one report, not a pattern. Still, the flex cables that cross a foldable’s hinge bend on every single fold, and they wear out. On an older Pixel Fold, heat like that may be internal cables shorting or breaking. A burning smell is not something to wait out. Stop using the phone and get it looked at.
