No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

Too Busy to Come to Us?

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung S20 Ultra 5G Known Issues

The screen slows itself down when the Exynos 990 runs hot

Here we have a symptom that sounds like a failing screen and is not one. Smooth one minute, sluggish the next. Is the panel going? Is it the touch layer? Neither. At about 40 degrees the phone switches itself from 120Hz to 60Hz, and back to 120Hz once the temperature drops. The UK Ultra runs the Exynos 990, and one XDA owner of that version logged 48°C on the processor after roughly 100 photos; another said the camera stopped responding at that heat. What can you do? Let it cool, then judge the screen. We do not replace a display for this.

Close-up photos come out soft

The 108MP main camera uses a very large sensor, and a sensor that size cannot focus as close as a normal phone camera. XDA owners found subjects a few centimetres away came out blurred, and one reviewer saw close shots with a sharp centre and smeared edges. That is the lens design, not a fault. Back the phone off, or in Pro mode set manual focus to its closest point and move the phone slowly in and out until the subject goes sharp.

Green cast on dark greys at 120Hz

Early Exynos Ultras (SM-G988B) drew a run of XDA reports of a green tint at 120Hz and low brightness, on grey backgrounds and in certain apps. At 60Hz it went away. Software or panel? Owners disagreed. Some said a system update cleared it; one who went through five handsets said none did. I have to be 100% upfront: these are launch-era reports, and they never settled the cause. If yours does it, the first test is whether it disappears at 60Hz.

The 40MP selfie camera takes its time

Owners reported the front camera taking five seconds or more to fire, and in Live focus sometimes refusing to shoot at all. It is hunting for focus. Tapping the screen before the shutter got the shot, and one owner found it only happened at full 40MP, not in 12MP mode.

Screen and back-glass jobs carry parts across

The selfie camera is glued into the old display’s frame, and some Samsung service-pack screens arrive without one. The original then has to be cut free with a blade, never liquid, because liquid inside the camera ruins it. On some regional versions, the US one among them, that camera is also paired to the board. The back glass also carries one of the microphones. Fit a new back glass without moving it across and audio recorded from the back of the phone stops working, most noticeably the sound on videos. We do not skip either step.
