If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung A71 Known Issues

The screen flickers in bursts, then settles on its own

So this one doesn’t look like a broken screen, which is exactly why it gets misdiagnosed. Owners describe an A71 that behaves perfectly most of the day, then flickers hard for ten or twenty minutes and goes back to normal by itself. No drop, no crack, no water. Intermittent faults are the hardest kind to prove, because the phone won’t misbehave on the bench when you want it to. Before anyone quotes for a display, it’s worth ruling out a software cause and getting the phone to flicker while it’s actually connected and being watched.

The phone is clearly still running, but the screen stays black

Here’s the distinction worth making. A phone with a dead display is not a dead phone. Owners report an A71 that went black with no warning, often a while after a system update, while they can still hear it ring and feel it respond in the hand. That tells you the board booted, the storage is fine, and the data is sitting there intact. The fault is downstream of all that — the panel, its connector, or the power feeding the display. A dark screen on a working board is a display job, not a write-off.

A restart loop that begins just after the lock screen

The reported pattern is specific enough to be diagnostic on its own: the phone boots, takes the password, runs for roughly a minute, reboots, and keeps repeating. Wiping the cache partition from recovery doesn’t touch it. What has worked for owners is reflashing the stock firmware with Odin, and that outcome is the real information — it says the problem was corrupted software rather than failed hardware. Try that before anyone opens the phone, because the other candidate, an intermittent board fault, is a far more expensive road. Get the data off first if the phone gives you a window.

A cracked AMOLED tends to go dark all over, not just where it’s broken

This one catches owners out. On an AMOLED panel like the A71’s, an impact hard enough to break the glass usually takes the whole picture with it rather than leaving you a working corner. There’s nothing left on screen to read, so people assume the phone itself has died. It hasn’t necessarily. A panel that fails completely tells you nothing at all about the board underneath — you only rule the board in or out once a known good display is fitted and you can see what the phone does.

No signs of life after a drop, but it still warms up on charge

So think about what “it gets warm on the charger” actually proves. Current is going in, which means the charging circuit and the power section are probably doing their job, and that moves suspicion away from the power rails and towards whatever got shaken loose. On an SM-A715F, a fall hard enough to break a display is also hard enough to unseat a ribbon connector or flex the board under a BGA chip, and those chips have very little tolerance for board flex. Check the connectors first. Board-level work is the last resort, not the opening guess.
