If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Note 10 Plus Known Issues

Fast charging quietly stops working

The phone still charges, just slowly. One long-term Note 10+ owner noticed the lock screen showing a normal charge, not fast charging, while using the original Samsung charger and cable. The same charger fast-charged a different Samsung phone with no trouble. So, the charger’s fine. The battery is the first suspect. When the charging circuitry decides the cell is worn or faulty, it won’t switch fast charging on. It also holds back when the battery is too cold or too hot. The charging port comes further down the list. On the Note 10+ it’s a separate, screwed-in board rather than part of the mainboard, so if the port does turn out to be the problem, it’s a contained repair.

Battery dies with charge left, or swells behind the back glass

One owner of the Snapdragon (non-UK) Note 10+ has been through two batteries. The first one swelled at around 18 months. The case hid it, and by then fast charging had already gone erratic. The second one lasted 33 months. Then the phone went black at 60% and wouldn’t respond. A new battery brought it straight back. That’s one person’s phone, not a failure rate. And the replacement isn’t quick. The battery runs the full width of the phone and is held down with strong adhesive, under back glass that curves round to almost a right angle at the edges. Getting it out without cracking anything takes patience.

A thin pale line along the top edge

This one started an argument on XDA. Look closely at the seam where the screen glass meets the top of the frame, either side of the earpiece cut-out. You may see a fine white or grey line. One owner was sure it was a manufacturing defect. Plenty of others checked and saw nothing. Then an owner of the UK model, the SM-N975F, went looking and found it on theirs. The best explanation in the thread is the waterproofing seal or adhesive showing through the gap. So, if you’ve just spotted it, it’s most probably how the phone left the factory. Where it does matter is after a screen replacement. If the gap is clearly wider than it was before, that’s worth bringing back.
