We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G Known Issues

Exynos heat and battery drain

UK Note 20 Ultras run Samsung’s own Exynos chip (model SM-N986B), not the Snapdragon 865 sold in some other markets, and the difference shows. A UK review of the Exynos model found it would handle any Android game you threw at it, but it heated up quickly, drained its battery fast and trailed the Snapdragon version overall. Owners say much the same. One XDA user who moved over from a Galaxy Fold found battery life roughly twice as bad. A long-term owner replied that, sadly, that’s just normal for the Exynos phone. So, if yours runs warm and is empty by teatime, the chip is part of the story. But a worn battery adds to it, so it’s worth testing the battery’s health before blaming either one.

Screen goes black, but the phone keeps running

This one’s odd. The display goes dark, sometimes mid-video or mid-message, yet the phone is plainly alive: notifications arrive, touch and voice commands still work, and plugging it into a TV over HDMI or DeX shows everything running normally. The fixes owners report are all over the place. One got the screen back after reflashing the stock firmware, a lot of rebooting and, in their words, slapping and massaging the phone, and it was still fine a month later. Another’s came back after letting the battery run completely flat. Others saw the screen flicker on for a few seconds or minutes and die again. Nobody in those threads pinned down a cause. Guesses ranged from the display panel to a loose connector to firmware. So, a black screen on a phone that’s still running is worth a proper look at the display and its connection before anyone writes off the board.

Main camera stops focusing

Several owners in one XDA thread describe photos that used to be sharp going soft, with autofocus hunting or giving up on close subjects like text. Some blamed a software update or the phone’s image processing. But one owner pointed out it wouldn’t focus even in the live preview, and barcode-scanning apps failed too. As another poster replied, if it can’t focus before any processing happens, that points to hardware. One owner found that switching off the stabilisation settings helped. Another had read of a service centre replacing the whole camera module for the same fault. So, try the stabilisation toggle first. A preview that won’t sharpen on anything is a hardware problem.
