If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Note 9 Known Issues

Green or yellow tint and lines when the screen wakes

Here we have the fault the Note 9 is known for. You press the power button, and the screen comes up with a green or yellowish cast, dim horizontal lines and slow redraws. It is worst below half brightness. At first, a few more presses clear it. Later they don’t. Owners describe leaving the phone untouched for minutes, then for hours, before the colours come back. One noticed the bottom of the display warming up while the tint was showing. Rest it and it behaves. Wake it, and the tint is back.

What causes it? Is it the panel? Is it software? The owners do not agree, and nobody in the reports we have opened one up to settle it. Many say it started straight after a system update, and one says it started after a factory reset. Every report that names a variant is from the Exynos model, which is the version sold in the UK. What we can say for sure: resets, cache wipes and reflashing firmware did not fix it for the owners who tried them, and the service centres they went to quoted a replacement screen.

Home fixes that hide the fault but don’t cure it

There’s a popular trick. Set Always On Display to show on tap, turn the screen off with the side button, then wake the phone from the on-screen clock instead. Some owners say the tint goes. Others say it did nothing. Even when it works, it does not last through a phone call: if the screen sleeps mid-call, it comes back green, and the always-on screen costs battery. Screen-dimming apps are the other route. Owners say they hide most of the green, but video turns blotchy, with crushed blacks and no smooth fade from light to dark.

I have to be 100% upfront. Every one of these hides the fault. We do not see any of them remove it. The repair owners were quoted is a new screen.
