If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Z Flip3 Known Issues

Factory screen protector cracking and peeling at the fold

The Flip3 ships with a plastic film stuck over the inner screen, and the fold is exactly where it gives up. Owners describe a thin horizontal crack or lifting edge along the crease on ordinary desk-job use, getting steadily worse, sometimes with a grey sheen on white backgrounds. One owner had it replaced, and the new one started cracking at the hinge edges about two months later. It’s a wear part. Treat it like one.

A soft plastic screen underneath the film

Glass doesn’t bend real good, so the inner screen isn’t glass. The outer cover screen is Gorilla Glass Victus: it scratches at a level six with deeper grooves at a level seven, which is pretty typical. The 6.7-inch folding panel marks at a level two with deeper grooves at a level three. Fingernail territory, hence the “no fingernails” warning in the box. Plenty of replacement films use a round camera hole instead of the factory cutout, leave a gap above the selfie camera, and peel from there.

The crease you can see and feel

Every Flip3 has a crease across the middle of the inner screen, and long-term owners say it bugs them more over time, not less. You feel the dip under your thumb when scrolling. Text crossing it can look slightly doubled. It also picks up lamp and window reflections more than a flat screen does, and dark mode makes that more obvious, not less. Long articles and videos are where it bites.

Lines and a dead touch strip on the inner display

This is the expensive one. One lightly used Flip3 grew a line across the inner display after about a year, with damage creeping in from the edges beside the hinge. Then that part of the screen stopped responding to touch. The answer and decline buttons for incoming calls sat in the dead zone, so the owner had to lock the phone and swipe up to pick up. A new film won’t fix this. It’s the panel itself, and that’s a full inner-screen replacement.

No dust rating, and a hinge that closes on grit

Samsung rates the Flip3 for water down to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, which is pretty impressive with all those moving parts. It has no dust rating at all, and the warnings say so. The metal hinge uses internal bristles to keep debris out, but owners single out sand as the real threat, especially with the phone shut. Anything trapped between the halves ends up sitting against that level-two plastic. Beach holiday? Some owners fit a thicker protector before they go.
