No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

Samsung Z Flip6 Known Issues

Inner screen goes black after folding

The cover screen works. The phone works. Touch on the big inner screen still responds. There’s just no picture. More than one Flip6 owner on XDA has hit this. One got about two months out of the phone before the inner display went dark for no obvious reason. Another saw flickering artefacts and a frozen image first. About a week later they folded the phone as normal, opened it back up, and the panel never came back. The hinge is the giveaway. A forced restart (power and volume down held for around 10 seconds) with the phone left open brings the screen back, but the next fold can kill it again, and one owner had both screens go black. Then there’s the part that’s kind of wild. On one of these phones a service centre replaced the display flex cable, and that didn’t fix it. So the cable isn’t always the culprit. The next places to look are the inner panel itself and its connections around the hinge.

Dead touch and a creaking inner screen

Several Flip6 owners describe the same warning sign: a crunching or clicking noise every time the phone is unfolded, and an inner screen that feels like it isn’t fully stuck down. One said it felt like the screen was lifting off the chassis. Then the touch goes. The cover screen keeps working, but the big inner display stops responding entirely. One owner heard that crunch from the day they unboxed it and lost touch at four to five months. Another bought one that crunched from new. Not the noise you want from a folding display. Every phone that got repaired came back with the noise and the dead touch gone. So if a Flip6 starts crunching on the way open, get it looked at before the touch goes too.

Samsung Z Flip6 Specifications

The Samsung Z Flip6 opens out to a 6.7-inch folding AMOLED screen (1080 x 2640) running at up to 120Hz, with a 3.4-inch cover screen on the outside. It runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and there’s no microSD card slot.

On the back is a 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation and a 12MP ultra-wide, with a 10MP selfie camera inside. The battery is 4000mAh, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. The back is Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on an aluminium frame, the fingerprint reader is in the side button, and it’s rated IP48: water resistant, but only protected against dust particles larger than 1mm.
