If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Z Fold7 Known Issues

Inner screen flickers, then half of it goes black

This is the big one. Several Fold7 owners describe the same sequence: the inner display flickers when the phone is opened, sometimes with stripes across it, and then one half of the panel goes black. The cover screen keeps working. Touch still responds whenever the inner screen flickers back on. So is the panel itself dead? Not necessarily. The flex cables that carry signal from one half of the phone to the other run across the hinge, and they are bent every single time you fold it. When one starts to break down, the half it feeds drops out. One owner saw it six weeks after purchase, in a case, never dropped.

The inner screen marks with a fingernail

The cover screen is glass and scratches like any other flagship. The inner screen does not. It is a soft, flexible plastic surface, and in a published durability test it marked at level two on the hardness scale. Plastic marks at two or three. Glass marks at six. Fingernails, pocket grit, a key edge: all of it leaves a permanent mark. The inner selfie camera sits under that same soft layer. And because the phone shuts on itself, one small stone caught in the fold gets pressed straight into the panel. Check before you close it. Every time.

Finish chipping around the charging port

The Fold7 is thin, and you can see it on the bottom edge. The metal either side of the USB-C port is barely wider than the port itself. Owners report the coloured finish coming off right around the opening, in one case from missing the port once with a charging cable. Is that a defect? Not really. It is a thin coating on a very thin strip of aluminium, and the plug tip hits it. But less metal means less margin, and chipped finish does not grow back. Plug in carefully, especially in the dark.

Samsung Z Fold7 Specifications

The Samsung Z Fold7 opens out to an 8-inch folding AMOLED screen (1968 x 2184) running at up to 120Hz, with a 6.5-inch cover screen (1080 x 2520) on the outside. It runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite with 12GB of RAM (16GB on the 1TB model) and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, and there’s no microSD card slot. Folded it’s 8.9mm thick, and 4.2mm unfolded.

There are three cameras on the back: a 200MP main camera with optical stabilisation, a 10MP 3x telephoto and a 12MP ultra-wide, plus 10MP selfie cameras on both screens. The battery is 4400mAh, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. The back is Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on an aluminium frame, the fingerprint reader is in the side button, and it’s rated IP48: water resistant, but only protected against dust particles larger than 1mm.
