If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Z Flip7 Known Issues

Scratches and marks on the inner screen

The Flip7’s 6.9-inch main screen is not hard glass like the front of a normal phone. It is ultra-thin glass with a soft factory top layer over it, and that top layer marks easily. In one durability test it scratched from a plastic pick at level two on the Mohs hardness scale, which means anything harder than a fingernail leaves a mark. One owner used theirs for six months without a case. They ended up with light imprints on one side of the screen and fine scratches on the other, from everyday use, not abuse. Is that a defect? No. Can it be fixed? Yes. But that top layer is part of the screen, not a sticker. Samsung’s own care instructions say not to remove it.

The crease is still there

Owners who moved from earlier Flips say the Flip7’s crease is the least visible Samsung has made. Look at the screen head-on and it mostly disappears. Tilt it, or run a finger down the fold, and you will still find it. That is how a folding panel bends. A crease that looks the way it did on day one is the design, not damage.

The cover screen won’t open your messaging apps

The 4.1-inch cover screen is bright and runs at 120Hz, but out of the box it does not let you run full apps on it, messaging included. Owners have called that a fault. It is not. It is a software limit Samsung chose.

Grit in the hinge

The Flip7 is rated IP48. The 4 covers solid particles bigger than 1mm, about the size of a grain of sugar. Finer pocket dust and lint are not covered, and Samsung’s care instructions say the phone is not dust resistant. In a deliberate grit test the hinge kept working but picked up new creaks and groans. A Flip7 that crunches as it folds but still opens fully most likely has debris in the hinge. That doesn’t automatically mean the hinge has failed.
