If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Z Fold6 Known Issues

The inner screen marks more easily than you’d think

The Fold6’s folding display has a plastic top layer, and it’s soft. In one scratch test it started marking at level two on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves at level three. A fingernail sits at about level three. So, a pressed nail, a ring or anything gritty touching the open screen can leave a permanent line. Samsung has reworked the layers underneath, and the crease is shallower than on earlier Folds. But the surface itself is still soft plastic. The cover screen on the outside is proper glass and holds up far better.

Fine grit and the hinge

The Fold6 is rated IP48. The “4” covers solid particles bigger than 1mm, which is coarse stuff. Pocket fluff and fine sand are much smaller than that. In the same durability test, dirt was worked into the hinge and folded through it, and the hinge ground noticeably louder afterwards. Samsung rates the hinge for 200,000 folds, but that rating assumes clean conditions. A gritty hinge is wear you can hear, and on a foldable the hinge takes everything else with it.

The screen won’t wake when you take it off your ear

One owner found that during calls, including WhatsApp calls and voice messages, the screen stayed black after they lowered the phone. They had to press the power button just to hang up. The proximity sensor passed Samsung’s own Device Care test. They’d just fitted a new glass protector and suspected it, but it wasn’t the cause. It’s an intermittent fault from a single report, and a passed sensor test makes a dead sensor less likely.

A pinkish tint straight out of the box

One owner’s brand-new Fold6 showed a light rosé tint on both the inner and outer screens when held against white paper. Their previous Fold4 had looked accurate. Another owner pointed them to Eye Comfort Shield, a setting that warms the colours on purpose, so check that first. If both screens still look pink with it off, the panel colour itself is off. On a new phone, raise that with the seller rather than live with it.
