If We Come To You

We know you are busy, so we offer a service where we come to you. We will arrive in a Red DrFixit Van at your home or work or wherever you want. Our vans are fully fitted with all the necessary tools to get your device working in no time. Did I mention our call out charge starts from only £15 to come to you? I am sure you agree… that level of convenience makes perfect sense. To find out more, please visit our page If We Come To You.

No Fix No Fee?

We would love to be able to fix every device and would love to be able to give you your device back working as it should be. Some devices are just beyond repair or need to be taken to a Micro-Soldering Specialist. Our expertise has taken years to acquire, so we charge £20 for any device which we are not able to repair. This by no means covers our costs, as we sometimes spend in excess of an hour or two working through different options to get your device working again. In the event that you have called us out to your location, we will only charge you the call out fee plus £10. If we are unable to repair your device, we may still be able to help get your device fixed and may even be able to get your data recovered. We have teamed up with a specialist “Micro-Soldering Board Level Repair Company” here in Bristol specifically to ensure we get your device fixed in almost all cases.

12 Month Warranty

We will not use cheap parts and will certainly not do a botch job either. You can rely on us. If you have any problems after the repair has been completed, just give us a call.

Samsung Z Fold2 Known Issues

Main screen will not open flat

Your Fold2 stops a few degrees short of flat. One half lies down, the other tilts up, and the phone sits at around 178 degrees instead of 180. Is it the case? No. Owners who took the case off saw the same angle. So is the battery swollen? That is the first thing to rule out. One owner’s warranty inspection found exactly that: a swollen battery pushing the frame out of line so the hinge could no longer open fully, and another owner replied with the same problem. A battery can swell in any phone, but on a foldable it shows up as a hinge that will not open rather than a back panel lifting. If the battery checks out, look at dirt. The Fold2 closes with a visible gap between its two halves, and over months of pocket use grit works its way into the hinge, where compressed air does not always reach it.

Inner screen flicker alongside a stiff hinge

Two separate owners describe the same order of events: the hinge stops opening fully, and within days the folding screen starts to flicker. Another had a small crack appear at the top of the crease. We do not treat these as two faults. The flex cables that link the two halves of the phone run across the hinge, and every fold bends them. Over time they break down, and a flickering inner screen is the classic sign. Owners who went through official repair report the inner screen came back fitted together with a new frame, hinge and battery, so this is absolutely not a small job. I have to be 100% upfront about that before any work starts.

Factory screen protector lifting at the fold

Samsung fits a plastic protector over the folding screen and printed a warning on the box telling owners not to remove it. Owners report it lifting along the fold line, one at the bottom of the hinge, another from the centre, with a hard bump under it from day one. A bump under the protector usually means something is trapped there. Have the protector replaced properly. Do not dig at the bump.

A folding screen that marks easily

The outer screen is Gorilla Glass Victus and scratches like any other flagship. The inner screen does not. Its top layer is soft plastic over the ultra-thin glass, and in a scratch test it marked at level 2 on the hardness scale, with deeper grooves at level 3. A fingernail can leave a mark. Samsung added a no-fingernails warning to the Fold2 for this reason. A sharp poke can kill the display outright.
